The Flow

While driving through the panoramic desertscape of southeastern Utah, I pulled off the road to look around and take in the breadth of this remarkable land of sculptured stone. A few feet off the highway I came across this naturally carved pathway, a route for infrequent heavy rainfall. The power of those storms scour out the rock. Each time abrading a little more, revealing its complex birth and transition over many eons.

It is a subtle display of great beauty. I love witnessing the natural artwork of the world around me. Sometimes the beauty is fleeting, sometimes it is revealed as the result of a process lasting millions of years.
