A Way Forward

I have a fondness for Black & White photographs. They can sometimes reveal ideas color conceals. On this day, absorbed into a Pacific Northwest mist, this bridge symbolized to me the dual ideas of moving forward and bridging gaps across difficult times and ideas. It seemed an icon. We build bridges, the best of our nature.

I have walked this trail many times. There are ten waterfalls along its path. Each time I’m taken by the ever-changing view and lush evolving soundscape. The experience of walking here is never the same twice, from bizarre ice formations on the coldest days of winter to the surprising way the sound of water and wind can change dramatically over a few steps. During winter and spring months the roar of crashing water is deafening, making conversation near a the larger falls difficult. While in summer and early fall the gentle sounds of a bubbling creek are idyllic.
