Rays Over the Desert
Our national parks and public lands are treasures of the highest order. We owe those who came before and made the Herculean effort necessary to preserve these spaces. And we must acknowledge these were native lands.
My wife and I camped here, overlooking the southern end of Capitol Reef National Park. A room with a view! We watched the moon reveal itself and begin its journey across the sky. The warm air of the day washing away as night air descended onto the desert landscape.
Between the distant mountains and this location lies the deep Strike Valley, the hallmark of the park’s southern end.
