A Fine Art Photograph
Rock Hard Waves
This is one of a series of photographs I took in the Utah desert after randomly pulling off the road. I had intended to just spend a few minutes looking around before starting to drive again. I had only walked a few feet before I got drawn into the patterns and shapes of the rock’s rough, sandy surface. Captivated, I ended up lingering for several hours watching how the day’s changing light affected the surprising colors of the weather-scoured rock. I could see movement in the rock. Motion, frozen eons before — and now revealed here. Beauty from chaos.
