A Misty Morning

This was one of those magical moments.

I had just spent a few days driving east across Canada from the west coast, sleeping along the way in the back of my truck. After dropping down into Maine and spending the night in a forest I began driving again as the morning began to develop. I came across this view. I lingered here even after I’d finished taking photographs. It was tranquility laid out before me.

Sometimes I just sit and absorb this photograph. It calms me with its quiet beauty. It’s impossible for me to look at this photo and not feel that moment. These are the times in my life that ground me and allow me to feel even more deeply the great privilege of being alive, being a witness to the world around me.

It is one of my all time favorite images.
